How do you kill a Brute in Stillskin Forest?
Keep your distance and use guns. A Brute has 320 health and hits for 28, the hardest of any infected, but it is the slowest (chase speed 18.5) and attacks only every 2.6 seconds. It takes about ten pistol body shots or five headshots. It shrugs off most knockback and only staggers from a headshot of 50 damage or more.

Behaviour
Brutes only spawn at night, from Day 3 on, and are rare (about 6 in every 104 spawns). They also appear in fixed places: one wakes among the residents of Blackthorn Asylum, one arrives halfway through the Rite of Stillness, and one joins every fourth guardian wave at the Heart.
How to beat it
- You are much faster. Kite it and shoot.
- Melee is a poor trade: 13 bat swings, and each of its hits costs you over a quarter of your health.
- Crouched takedowns don't work on Brutes.
- The Signal Remote takes 40% of its health in one pulse.
