Shooting Through Doors, Windows and Glass

Last checked · Checked against the development build

Can you shoot through doors and windows in Stillskin Forest?

Yes. A bullet flies through open doorways, shatters window glass and carries on (90% damage), and punches through a closed door or a thin wooden board for about half damage, up to two in a row. Concrete, plaster, brick, metal, rock and thick walls stop it. Any bullet breaks a window pane outright; melee chips at it with the weapon's own damage, and the infected break one in eight blows.

Shots are traced from your eye to the crosshair, so standing right next to a car, a fence or a wall doesn't block a shot you can see. Standing on a car and shooting an infected at its wheels works. A headshot through a door still hurts more than a body shot, but it is no longer an instant kill.

Breaking glass is loud: it draws infected from about 45 studs. A broken pane leaves the frame open, so you can climb through a window big enough to fit. Every window is whole again at the start of a new run.
